Snake River Jetboat Adventure

June 16, 2019

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters.”
Norman Maclean, A River Runs Through it and Other Stories

The Snake River is a major river of the greater Pacific Northwest region in the United States of America. At 1078 miles ( 1735km) long, it is the largest tributary of the Columbia River, in turn, the largest North American river that empties into the Pacific Ocean.- thank you wikipedia.org

The Snake River rises in western Wyoming, then flows through the Snake River Plain of southern Idaho, the rugged Hells Canyon and the Oregon- Idaho border and the Palouse Hills of Washington, emptying into the Columbia River at the Tri-Cities, Washington.- Thank you again wikipedia.org

And at Lewiston, our adventure began when we boarded our jetboat “Hell Bond”

A day on the River

Family is like music, some high notes, some low notes, but always a beautiful song- Author unknown

This article is dedicated to  Cliffs Dad who dreamed about bringing his kids, grandkids and grand, grandkids to the snake river and share his dream and sole with all of us.

For years our family has planned a trip to the snake river. Cliffs dad wanted to share this adventure with all of us as long as I can remember. So finally after trying many times Cliffs mom and dad arranged a  small family reunion before Cliff and I  are embarking on our adventure. Most of our family came down to Lewiston Idaho and spend some good family time and an amazing jet boat adventure on the snake river. With The LuvShk parked and surrounded by multiple family tents at the Hells gate State park, the Haberman reunion could begin. The following morning we all head down to https://snakeriveradventures.com  and boarded 30 people speed boat equipped with 3  powerful raptor motors and the boat handled very agile.

On the speed boat

Water in the boat is the ruin of the boat, but water under the boat is its support-Rumi

The ride down Snake river was 6 hours. After 3 hours we stopped on a self-sufficient orchard and with a beautifully packed lunch, followed by some exciting level 2 and 3 rapids. The two smallest family member our granddaughters Leila 3years old one Breezy 18-month-old did amazing on this very long day on the speed boat. Leila even got a chance to drive the boat for a while. We learned about the great flood and how it formed the landscape in the canyon, to the stories about chief Joseph and how he got his people across the snake river with great casualties, for relocation forced by the federal government, to wildlife in the area and of course fishing. We even got to witness a catch and release of a 7 foot Sturgeon.https://snakeriveradventures.com did an excellent job and went way beyond their service. We would recommend this company to anyone. This adventure was somewhat bittersweet. As we all enjoyed our days together immensely it also was very sad when we all had to say good-by as Cliff and I headed west and the rest of the family headed north and east. Thank you all for a great time together and we all see you on the road one-day.
